The Fundamentals of Wine (FWC) is a one-day professional training course designed for the hospitality industry. The program consists of 8 clock hours of structured instruction and provides essential wine knowledge applicable to real service environments.

FWC delivers a practical introduction to commercially relevant grape varieties and focuses on how wines are understood, presented, and sold within restaurant and hotel operations.

  • A foundational understanding of major grape varieties commonly sold in hospitality
  • Practical insight into presenting and selling wines in service contexts
  • Core wine service techniques appropriate for restaurants and hotels
  • Increased confidence supporting guest engagement and beverage sales

Program Format and Assessment
  • Duration: One full day (8 clock hours)
  • Assessment: 45-minute multiple-choice examination
  • Certification: Certificate awarded with a minimum score of 60%

FWC is designed for hotel and restaurant groups requiring consistent baseline wine knowledge across teams.

The course is currently offered to large groups in South America, the Middle East, Asia, and selected locations in North America, and may be delivered in additional locations upon request.

FWC is not available to individual participants and is not a prerequisite for ISG’s professional certification pathway.
